Tadiran HLC series – hybrid layer capacitors for pulsesplus™ batteries
The Tadiran HLC Series is based on rechargeable lithium intercalation technology and serves as a high-pulse energy buffer in combination with Tadiran Lithium-Thionyl Chloride cells. Integrated into the PulsesPlus™ architecture, HLCs provide short but powerful current bursts exactly when required – for example, during data transmission or device activation.
Thanks to their low impedance, minimal self-discharge, and stable performance across a wide temperature range, HLCs are ideal for applications that demand long-term, maintenance-free energy supply. The result: a hybrid power source that combines high energy density with robust power output – reliable, efficient, and built to last.
Typical applications and key features:
- Energy backup for autonomous sensors, data loggers, and asset tracking systems
- Power source for mission-critical devices (e.g. alarms, wireless modules)
- Trusted in industrial, infrastructure, security, and mobility environments
- Service life of up to 25 years in PulsesPlus™ systems
- Charged to 3.6 V (optionally 3.9 V)
- Extremely low self-discharge (<1% per year)
- Temperature range from –40 °C to +85 °C
- High pulse current capability – up to 5,000 mA depending on model
- Optimized for standby operation with intermittent high current demand
Performance profile and model examples
The HLC portfolio includes models for space-constrained designs as well as versions engineered for maximum performance. Compact cells like the HLC-1020 or HLC-1020P6 deliver up to 14 mAh and are ideal for low-energy sensor applications. For higher current loads and extended operating times, models such as HLC-1530A (70 mAh) or HLC-1550A (155 mAh) offer robust, high-capacity solutions – even under extreme environmental conditions.
